URUS SE LARGENDA: Black Into Red, on Lamborghini's Most Advanced Urus

There is a moment in every LARGENDA project when colour stops being a finish and starts being the material itself. For this Lamborghini Urus SE, that moment happened twice — once in the paint, once in the carbon, and then a third time in a government office in Germany.

The build carries a gradient from deep black into bright red across the entire car. The painted body kit splits along the centerline, black on one side, red on the other, the transition running down the hood, across the roof, and through the rear deck. The dry-carbon exterior carries the same logic forward, side components matching their side, symmetrical components taking the gradient inside the weave.

Producing a gradient inside dry carbon is not a coating decision. The colour is laid into the part during layup, before the autoclave, and once the part is cured under heat and pressure the gradient is part of the carbon itself. There is no clear coat sitting over a print, no wrap hiding the structure underneath. The black-to-red transition on the hood, the front bumper architecture, the rear diffuser and the roof spoiler is in the material. It will outlast the bodywork.

This build sits on the Urus SE, Lamborghini's plug-in hybrid flagship — a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 paired with an electric motor and a 25.9 kWh battery for a combined 789 hp and 701 lb-ft of torque, 0-62 mph in 3.4 seconds, and roughly 30 miles of electric-only range. It is the most technologically advanced Urus Lamborghini has built. LARGENDA is engineered to run alongside that technology rather than around it — every component mounts to the SE's factory attachment points, fully compatible with the plug-in hybrid system, parking sensors and driver-assistance technology.

LARGENDA carries Teiletypgenehmigung, a national type approval issued directly by Germany's Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) — the first type approval of its kind ever granted to a Urus body kit, and the same regulatory path a vehicle manufacturer itself has to follow. The kit is tested to VdTÜV-Merkblatt 744 and ECE-R 26, with splinter behavior confirmed to DIN 52306 and pedestrian protection to UN-R127, confirmed by testing body GTÜ Stuttgart. An inspector, an insurer or a future buyer can verify the certification independently.

The LARTE Design forged wheels were the last decision and the one that closed the silhouette. Solid black would have anchored the car too low. Solid red would have repeated the body without adding anything. The wheels were designed in-house and finished to carry the gradient logic down to the floor — the place where, on most cars, the conversation about colour usually ends.

The kit itself is the standard LARGENDA architecture for the Lamborghini Urus SE: 18 exterior components in 100% dry carbon with Class-A surface finish, all mounted to OEM attachment points without structural modification, fully TÜV-certified, fully compatible with the plug-in hybrid system, parking sensors and driver assistance technology. The kit is the structure. What changes from one build to another is what gets decided about it — which components, in which finish, in which colour direction, with which logic running through them.

For this build, the answer was black, red, and a certification that puts LARGENDA on file with the German government. The next build will answer differently.
