I built my BMW X6M over five months — and now it’s perfect

My name is Michael, I’m from Canada. I drive a black BMW X6M LCI. I bought it as an all-around car — something that works for daily driving, business meetings, and simply enjoying the drive.

In terms of performance, the X6M is an absolute beast. But after some time I realized something: visually, there were already too many of them in my city. The car was powerful, but it started to feel a bit too familiar on the road.

I didn’t want to turn it into an aggressive show car with an overloaded body kit. My goal was different — I wanted the BMW X6M to look more precise, more expensive, and slightly more aggressive, while still feeling like a real BMW. No extremes, and nothing that would start to feel excessive a year later.

That’s exactly why I started looking into LARTE Design projects. Their kits look as if the designers simply brought the original design of the car to its logical final form.

Starting small

Starting small
To be honest, at first I wasn’t ready to order a full kit right away. In January I sent a very simple request: “Let’s start small. I want to see the quality in person first.” Manager Helen got in touch with me. There was no pressure to buy everything at once. Instead, she suggested a reasonable first step — a carbon grille surround and a front splitter.

The first order arrived quickly. The packaging was secure and the parts looked flawless. We installed them at my service shop, and that was the moment I finally relaxed. Everything aligned perfectly. The carbon finish was clean, the fitment precise — nothing vibrating, nothing requiring adjustments. The front of the car instantly looked lower and wider, yet the ground clearance remained practical for daily driving, which was very important to me.

After that, the project developed naturally.

Once I saw how much the front end had changed, I ordered carbon side sills a month later. Then came carbon bumper elements and the rear diffuser.

Every time, Elena helped not just with ordering parts but with shaping the overall concept of the car. She was honest about where adding another element would improve the design — and where it would simply become too much.

At some point I realized I was actually looking forward to the next step in the project.

The decision that made the car feel complete

The decision that made the car feel complete
The hood became a separate discussion.

At first I was convinced I wanted a full carbon hood. But the longer I looked at the car with carbon accents along the lower parts, the more I felt that a carbon hood might be too much.

Elena and I discussed it several times. She sent renderings and examples from other projects. Eventually I suggested the solution myself: keep carbon on the lower elements, but paint the hood in body color.

Looking at the car now, I’m especially happy with that decision. The design feels balanced and cohesive — not like a collection of separate parts.

The entire project took about five months. There were a few minor logistics delays along the way — one shipment was briefly held at customs. But Helen kept me updated and handled the situation without requiring my involvement.

Today my BMW X6M LCI looks exactly the way I wanted it to. Stronger. More precise. More premium. It still feels like a true BMW — just the best possible version of itself. And honestly, that was my goal from the very beginning.
