The BMW XM Doesn't Need a Facelift. It Needs LARTE Design

No BMW splits opinion quite like the XM. A facelift is the obvious answer — new lights, a reshaped grille, a software refresh. LARTE Design didn't wait for one. This XM build gives the car what it actually needs: one matte olive tone, painted body and dry carbon alike, from the hood to the rear diffuser.

Most attempts to rework a divisive design start with a facelift, and none of that changes what a car actually is. LARTE Design took the opposite approach: rebuild the XM's own architecture in 100% dry carbon, then match the painted body to it so precisely that the two materials read as one. The result isn't an updated XM. It's a specific one, built once, exactly this way.

Getting paint to match cured carbon exactly is a materials problem before it's a design one — the two surfaces catch light differently even with identical pigment underneath. LARTE Design's process starts with the carbon: the exterior components cure first, then the body paint is developed against those cured samples, panel by panel, until the transition disappears completely.

The kit covers the XM's front and rear architecture, wide fender extensions, side skirts and a forged wheel set finished to match — all engineered to mount to the car's factory attachment points, with no cutting and no drilling. The M Hybrid powertrain stays completely stock: a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 paired with an electric motor for 644 hp and 590 lb-ft combined, 0-60 mph in roughly 4.1 seconds, and up to 30 miles of electric-only range. Every driver-assistance system and parking sensor keeps working exactly as it did from the factory.

This build represents LARTE Design's Level 2 customization: colour matched across paint and carbon rather than chosen separately, personalization engineered directly into the vehicle's structural components.
